Play Now Melbourne Is A New Event That Will Help Local Developers Connect With Global Publishers

Local developers get those pitches ready

VicScreen has today announced Play Now Melbourne, the first Australian international games market that will allow local developers to pitch their games to international publishers, platform holders and investors, which could lead to publishing or funding deals to help bring these projects to life.

The inaugural market is set to take place on October 5 as part of Melbourne’s International Games Week at the State Library of Victoria, with the likes of Kepler Interactive (SifuScorn), Landfall Games, and Meta all confirmed to attend the event. Developers and publishers who are interested in participating can find out more information here.

On the announcement, VicScreen CEO Caroline Pitcher said that “Play Now Melbourne will create meaningful and ongoing opportunities for local game developers to succeed on the global stage, leading to stable and rewarding careers.”

While Julian Winton, the creative director of the Melbourne-made smash hit Cult of the Lamb, said “Play Now Melbourne will set a new precedent for a thriving game development ecosystem, propelling Melbourne International Games Week onto the global stage.”

This initiative is another reason why VicScreen continues to lead the way in supporting Australia’s local development industry.
