Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Next Expansion Adds Shiny Pokémon And Drops Alongside Ranked Matches Next Week

This will be a problem for me

The Pokémon Company has announced the next expansion for the Pokémon TCG Pocket app, dubbed Shining Revelry, and it drops in less than a week on March 27, 2025 at 5PM AEDT.

The new expansion will introduce Shiny Pokémon into the app for the first time, which is a surefire way to have players dropping even more cash in the pursuit of artificially scarce digital cardboard.

Shining Revelry will feature more than 110 new cards in total, which includes a swathe of ‘mons from the Paldea Region made famous in Pokémon Scarlet/Violet like Tatsugiri and Sprigatoto, and will also include nine new Pokémon ex cards (complete with new ex Starter Deck missions), new trainers and a singular new immersive card.

The big, featured reveal cards are a Shiny Charizard ex and Lucario ex because of course they are, and it looks like Shiny cards will come with their own special treatment that seems them glimmer and sparkle as they’re moved around – neat! Other spotlighted new cards include Shiny versions of Wiglett, Pachirisu and Varoom:

As if that all wasn’t enough, Ranked Matches are finally arriving next week as well, and kick off one day later at 5PM AEDT on Friday, March 28. Running for a month, Ranked Matches will pit players against others of “similar skill levels” and award special emblems at the end of the season depending on their final rank.

You can read about Shining Revelry and more on the official The Pokémon Company website here.
