The gaming mouse scene is one that has been thoroughly covered by a number of manufacturers in a number of different ways. Whether it be just a simple mouse that just has the two additional side buttons, or one of those insane MMO mice (that I have always wanted to try), it seems like there is something for everyone – but that’s not going to stop people from improving.
Razer has just unveiled the new lightweight E-Sports-focused mouse, the Razer Viper V2 Pro, which bolsters new and improved mouse switches, and the brand new Focus Pro 30K optical sensor. Now, I’m not someone to normally note the weight of an object when the numbers are so small unless it’s oregano but the Viper V2 Pro comes in at an impressive 58g. I guess less really is more.

According to Chris Mitchell, the Head of Razer’s PC Gaming Division, careful consideration was used when bringing down the weight of the mouse, ensuring that “it was not at the cost of the other features.” Mitchell went on to explain that this mouse is the culmination of feedback and iterative improvement, giving examples like the protrusion of the side buttons, and the switch/sensor improvements.
The lightweight gaming mouse is available at JB Hi-Fi for A$259.
Now if you’ll excuse me, there is conventiently a new space on my desk for a 58g mouse – completely unrelated, I swear.
