Resident Evil Village Gets A May Release Date; PS5 Demo Available Now

Date, demo and The Duke

During this morning’s Resident Evil Showcase, Capcom announced a bunch of details for the highly anticipated next entry in the series, Resident Evil Village, including the game’s release date – May 7, 2021. In a somewhat surprise announcement, the Japanese publisher revealed that the game will also launch on PS4 and Xbox One alongside its newer, more powerful siblings, and will be a free upgrade from PS4 to PS5, with the Xbox version supporting Smart Delivery.

The gameplay showing gave us a tour of the Castle, revealed the game’s merchant, known as The Duke, and showed off the inventory system and enemies from the game.

Capcom also announced that PS5 owners will have access to an exclusive visual demo that will focus on the game’s atmosphere and puzzles as of today, with another demo coming to all platforms at some stage before the game’s release.

Furthermore, in celebration of the series’ 25-year anniversary, Capcom revealed RE: Verse – a comic book-style multiplayer experience that pits popular RE characters against one another in a four to six player deathmatch battle in iconic RE locations. More details on RE: Verse will be shared at a later date, but Capcom stated that it will be free for all Resident Evil Village owners.
