Returnal Gets A February Release Date For PC Alongside A Specs And Features Reveal

Atropos arrives

Housemarque and PlayStation have announced that Returnal will be released on PC on February 15.

The port was first announced during The Game Awards 2022, with today’s PlayStation Blog post revealing when the incredible roguelike will be hitting Steam and the Epic Games Store. Originally released on PS5 back in 2021, Returnal is a challenging third-person AAA roguelike that centres around Selene, a deep-space astronaut who crash lands on a mysterious alien planet.

The PlayStation Blog post also details the PC version’s specs and features, along with the release date info. The game will support NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR and NVIDIA NIS in order to maximise performance, with the addition of ray-traced reflections further pushing fidelity. For those with the hardware to accommodate, Returnal will have ultrawide support at 21:9 and 32:9 resolution formats.

To accompany one of the game’s best elements, the PC release will support Dolby Atmos, with 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound options. Finally, players will also be able to take advantage of Returnal’s excellent use of the DualSense controller’s unique features, as the PC port will have full DualSense support.

In our Returnal review, we said, “Returnal is a challenging, atmospheric and creative experience that boasts amazingly smooth and satisfying gameplay. Add in an intriguing narrative, graphical excellence and some impressive utilisation of the DualSense controller and Returnal might just be an instant PlayStation classic.” We gave Returnal a 9.5.
