See An Old Lady Juice Herself In Overwatch 2’s Stadium Gameplay Trailer

Nano’d Nanna is coming for you

As Overwatch 2‘s next season of content looms, a trailer has been released to showcase what players can expect when they step foot into the newest fully-realised game mode within the title – known as ‘Stadium’.

Briefly shown off back in Feb, Stadium is described as a ‘highly customisable game mode’ where two teams battle it out, upgrading their abilities between each bout for up to seven rounds. It’s a far departure from what we have seen in Overwatch past, even breezing past the madcap nature of the recently introduced ‘Perks’ system into uncharted territory – and to give you a rough idea of what to expect, Blizzard now has a trailer showcasing the mode and a group of people pretending to play it.

Oh, and we see Ana yoink her own Nano dart and slam it into her shoulder. Absolute CINEMA.

Let’s just see that one clip again:

Oh yeah. That’s the stuff.

Playable in either first OR third person, Stadium looks to shake things up in a big way – likely to make sure that OW2 players have a fresh slay-ground to slay in. Some general details that aren’t immediately apparent from the trailer:

  • At launch, 17 heroes will be available (with more coming post-release)
  • Characters cannot be changed after the game begins
  • Between each round, players will visit the Armory to purchase up to six Items (these supplement your hero abilities)
  • Heroes can buy Items with their starting 3500 Stadium Cash – with more Stadium Cash earned via gameplay
  • You can also get Stadium Cash from Bounties, earned by defeating high-priority targets on the enemy team
  • Before the first, third, fifth, and seventh rounds, each hero will select a Power – permanent modifiers that change an ability (such as Moira’s Biotic Orb Multiball)

Surprisingly, many standard maps will be used for Stadium – admittedly playing a little differently than their standard incarnations, such as having a shorter distance in Push or only a single point of capture on a Control map. There is also brand-new map called Arena Victoriae, seen in the trailer with the awesome gladiator statue.

There will also be unique rewards for playing Stadium, so if you enjoy FashionWatch you may want to dip your toe into the carnage and see what pretty new looks you can muster.

Overall it’s a hefty amount of “new and shiny” for anyone who is feeling the lustre of perks starting to rub off, so keep an eye out for when the mode makes its way into the game on April 22.
