When you think of remasters, you likely think of huge titles that were massively popular in their day, getting a fresh coat of paint for a new audience. This definitely happens, but remasters have also proven that they’re able to shine a light on games that perhaps didn’t receive enough love the first time around, all while getting some necessary TLC.
Shadow Man: Remastered falls into that latter category, breathing new life into the third-person action-adventure game that was released in 1999 for the PS1, N64 and Sega Dreamcast. It has recently been announced by developer Nightdive Studio that the remaster for this cult classic will be releasing on PC on April 15, with the PS4, Xbox One and Switch release coming at a later date.
Adapted from the Shadowman comic published by Valiant, the game sees you taking control of Michael LeRoi, the latest in a line of voodoo warriors to take up the titular title. As the Shadowman, you’re tasked with fending off evil beings that seek to escape the Deadside (afterlife/hell) and invade the Liveside (real-world/land of the living). The remaster features improved visuals, HDR support, improved AI, reworked shadows, added content cut from the original and plenty more while maintaining the game’s eerie presence.
Did you play the original game? Have you read the comics? Let us know.
