Skull And Bones Gets A November Release Date Alongside A Gameplay Reveal Trailer

Will you set sail?

Ubisoft has announced that Skull and Bones will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on November 8.

The announcement came during this morning’s Ubisoft Forward gameplay reveal that showed what’s on offer within the upcoming pirate title. Surviving a shipwreck, the player character sets off on their swashbuckling from Saint Anne, a pirate haven filled with opportunities to take on contracts, upgrade your ship and interact with fellow players. Starting out as a rookie, you’ll only have access to a small vessel but, as you gain infamy and resources, you’ll be able to craft more advanced ships, ranging from slow cargo ships with a high inventory capacity, fast navigation ships with limited cargo space and firepower ships that deal huge amounts of damage but are harder to steer.

Not only will you need to care for your ship, but you’ll also be required to keep your crew happy to avoid a mutiny. If the worst does happen and your ship is destroyed, a portion of your loot will be lost to the sea, though you can recover it if you’re quick enough.

Though it can be played entirely as a single-player game, Skull and Bones also offers online multiplayer in PvP servers. Here you’ll be able to team up with your friends and hunt down other players for their cargo or take on contracts with some added muscle. From what was shown off during the gameplay reveal, it looks as though players will be able to walk around as their pirate avatar when docked at a pirate den, but there doesn’t appear to be any kind of pirate-to-pirate combat. So if you were hoping to personally board enemy ships similarly to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, you might be a bit disappointed.
