Sonic Frontiers DLC Roadmap Reveals A Swathe Of Free Content

It’s December, and Sonic Team has dropped an early gift – A DLC roadmap for Sonic Frontiers that promises three major updates filled with new content.

Coming in 2023, the updates will first bring some fun toys to the Starfall Islands, with the inclusion of a jukebox mode, a photo mode and new challenge modes that appear to target the cyber-space levels within the game. The second update includes some festivities for Sonic’s Birthday and some overworld content in the form of an ‘Open Zone Challenge’. There is also a nebulous offer of ‘New Coco’ within the game, which sounds neat but I can’t even begin to explain how that may be implemented.

Finally, the third update really offers some meat and potatoes – with additional playable characters and new story content!

The best part is that these fast paced freebies come with the low, low price tag of zilch. Nada. Zero.

I always found it interesting that members of Sonic Team referred to Sonic Frontiers as “a beginning” – and it appears that in the grander scope of things they are happy to grow the title beyond its already impressive girth.
