Square Enix Are Set To Revive The Old Skool JRPG

At long last, It is happening

Get that bottle of champagne ready to pop ladies and gentleman..

At this year’s Game Developers Conference, the newest studio within the Square Enix Holdings Co. Tokyo RPG Factory was on hand to reveal its debut title — I AM SETSUNA.  The title is slated for digital release for the west this winter (ANZ) on the PS4.

Led by director Atsushi Hashimoto, Tokyo RPG Factory aims to capture the narrative depth, impactful storytelling and masterful character development inspired by the golden era of Japanese role-playing games and bring them to current hardware and technology. With a battle system inspired by the classic hit CHRONO TRIGGER, I AM SETSUNA brings back authentic RPG gameplay, beautiful art design and a sorrowful story to the new generation.

.. TOKYO RPG FACTORY IS A NEWLY ESTABLISHED STUDIO SPECIALIZING IN JAPANESE RPGS, STARTED IN AUGUST 2014. THE STUDIO REVISITS THE ETHOS USED TO DEVELOP PAST RPGS TO CREATE A COMPLETELY NEW RPG SERIES, WHICH WILL INTRODUCE THE AUTHENTIC JRPG STYLE TO CURRENT HARDWARE USING THE TECHNOLOGIES OF TODAY..

You read that correctly, the old skool is coming back..
