Some details have emerged today via Bandai Namco and The Hollywood Reporter that A24, the studio behind films such as Lady Bird, Everything Everywhere All at Once and Talk to Me, will be entering a partnership to make an Elden Ring film a reality.
Writer and director Alex Garland, responsible for films such as Civil War and the 28 Days Later series, is attached to make the project a reality – with Bandai Namco expressly describing it as a live-action film in their social media update:
We’re thrilled to announce that Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. and A24 are teaming up with writer and director Alex Garland to bring FromSoftware Inc.’s world-renowned video game ELDEN RING to life as a live-action film.

While the game has no end of spectacle, storytelling within Elden Ring is a very measured and careful thing. The idea of turning this into a film strikes me as an ambitious one – so here’s hoping that Alex has all the resources he needs to hit the bullseye. Ideally he should be assisted by George R. R. Martin and FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki, considering they are the mad minds behind the dark fantasy role-playing game – but production is still very early days, so keep an eye out as further names get involved.
The real question is whether or not they can convince Jack Black to sign on as The Tarnished. If you know, you know. Maybe they will adapt the Elden Ring Manga.
More news as it develops.
