The Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic remake has been handed to a different developer, finding itself in the hands of Saber Interactive to continue it’s development.
Jason Schreier mentioned the shift via Bloomberg, detailing that the troubled project was formerly in development Aspyr Media before finding it’s way to Saber Interactive’s Eastern European studios.
Further details suggest that the game was moved due to quality issues. With shareholders like Disney and Sony involved, you can imagine they’d have some trepidation about dropping a stinker of a remake when the original title was considered a cherished memory by many.
Given that the project is yet to receive a release date, you can at least take heart that you can’t really call this a delay – at least not in the technical sense. Most of the stakeholders have mentioned that they are optimistic ‘this will lead to a better product’; but really we the gaming public will be the judge of that.
