I’m just saying, at the end of Infamous 2, you can clearly see the number three in the lightning strike.
Alright, I’m reaching a bit there, but it turns out there may be a glimmer of hope for the excellent superhero/villain action series yet. Recently, Sucker Punch Productions’ co-creative directors, Nate Fox and Jason Connell, sat down for an interview with Game Informer to discuss the studio’s upcoming sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei.
While most of the questions lobbed at the development duo understandably revolved around the in-development open-world stealth action game, interviewer Kyle Hilliard took the opportunity to sneak in a leading question about the studio’s other great franchise that isn’t Sly Cooper.
When pressed about the future of Infamous, Nate Fox said, “I would love to work on more Infamous. I would love to see a trilogy rerelease, but Sucker Punch is a one-game-at-a-time shop, and right now we are very focused on finishing Ghost of Yōtei.”
So, you’re saying there’s a chance?
The original Infamous was released on the PS3 back in 2009, and in my opinion, it was one of the best new IPs to appear during that generation. Two years later, Cole McGrath’s story continued with Infamous 2, building on the series’ lore and expanding on the electric powers that the player wielded. Finally (for now), Infamous Second Son dropped on PS4 in 2014, dropping jaws at the time for its graphical fidelity and use of particle effects on a home console. While it was a chronological sequel to the first two games, Second Son introduced a new protagonist, Delsin Rowe, an equally moldable hero/villain who began the game with smoke powers but eventually acquired various abilities as the game progressed.
As was the style at the time, Infamous was known for its morality system that allowed players to make binary choices throughout each game, leading the narrative in one of two directions: good or evil. While these choices weren’t as dynamic or impactful as something like Mass Effect, they did influence the game’s world, as well as the powers that the protagonist would have access to.
I will forever champion the Infamous series and would ideally love to see a new game in the franchise. That said, I would also settle for a re-release of the trilogy with updated visuals and quality-of-life improvements.

Shouts to Game Informer.
