Gamescom 2018 is in full swing with a host of new trailers and new information on announced games dropping thick and fast. One announcement that has caught people by surprise is The Dark Pictures Anthology from Bandai Namco and Supermassive Games (Until Dawn), a series of stand-alone horror games for the PS4, Xbox One and PC that will give players new a horror experience with each entry.
The first title in the unconnected series, which is set to a launch in 2019, is titled Man of Medan and sees a group of friends searching for a WWII shipwreck whilst on vacation. Naturally, things take a turn for the worst and the player can play as each of the protagonists, and it is up to you to decide who lives and who dies. Each character will have a unique perspective on the events as they unfold and will have to make life-changing decisions in the process. Each game will feature branching storylines and numerous endings that will offer the player a new level of replayability.
We’ve been working with the amazing team at Supermassive Games to bring this vision together and we hope that fans are as excited to see the game for the first time at Gamescom – as we’ve been creating it. As well as creating entertaining experience, we want to be innovative as a company. The Dark Pictures, the first example of a horror anthology series within the video game world, positions gaming closer to a style closer to their favourite TV shows…with new, standalone experiences brought to fans on a regular basis.
