Since its official announcement back in June, it’s been revealed that Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will feature a number of playable characters. We’ve got the usual suspects of Crash and Coco alongside series antagonist Neo Cortex and, interestingly, the fan favourite Dingodile.
It turns out that Developer Toys For Bob still had one surprise left up their sleeves, as they’ve just announced a fifth and final playable character that will be making an appearance in the upcoming game.
Tawna Bandicoot, Crash’s girlfriend in the first game, will be making her way back to the series for the first time since the original. Going from a damsel in distress to a kick-arse adventurer, Tawna has a new look and a moveset that’s completely different from the other characters.
This version of Tawna isn’t technically the one we’ve seen before, as she’s from a different dimension. Sporting a new, punky haircut, a spiked leather jacket and some fashionable(?) leg warmers, this Tawna deals with her problems herself and prefers to do things on her own.
In terms of gameplay, Tawna will be able to traverse levels in a number of new ways. Acrobatic wall jumps and a ground-pound attack will switch things up a fair bit, but the main course is the hook-shot ability that she can use to grab items from a distance or pull herself towards platforms.

It was also announced that those who preorder Crash 4 digitally will be able to get their hands on a demo of the game on September 16.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time releases on PS4 and Xbox One on October 2.
