The Best Steam Summer Sale Bargain Is About Nearly Nude Dudes Climbing Each Other

Trust me on this one, it is definitely as weird (and wonderful) as it sounds

The Steam Summer Sale is in full swing, and speaking of swinging; have I got a bargain for you.

An absolute banger of a time that I graciously force upon all my gaming friends is a neat little title named Mount Your Friends, from developer
Stegersaurus Software Inc (no, that is not a typo – just ask Daniel “Stegersaurus” Steger).

The objective of the game is simple – Mount. Your. Friends. Maybe it’s easier to understand in motion:

If you are still not quite grasping it, the developer sums up the experience like so:

Mount Your Friends is a physics based competitive climbing game where what you climb is each other. Players take turns climbing to the top of a tower of previous climbers (and a goat) working to become the new highest point before time runs out. If you run out of time before reaching the top, you’re eliminated. It’s simple to get into, but difficulty to master. Adept competitors can create massive towers by flinging themselves faster than simple climbing methods can attain. Of course, you may also end up just falling all the way down a tower if you miss!

It’s an absolute slapper of a game – and I am not just talking about the sound effects of meat-on-meat that permeate the audio. Basically you control your dude with a set of QWOP-like controls, moving each limb independently – and try to scramble up and ever increasing mountain of meaty mates. The time limit is breathing down your neck, and gravity is beckoning you down to the pitiful grass below.

It’s a game that I love to unveil to friends – and will routinely gift it to mates as a way of convincing them to play. Right now I have a fairly stellar record of converts who have begrudgingly played this weird as heck title; only to find themselves strong advocates for the odd nude-dude experience it offers. Often we find ourselves laughing to the point of having pain in our sides, and faces that ache from grinning.

It’s also a pioneer in the realm of Dong Physics™ within gaming – just take a look at the hypnotic work below:

NOT FAR ENOUGH I SAY

The best part? Right now you will get change out of three bucks if you purchase during the Steam Summer Sale. That’s barely two gold coins worth of investment for a life-time of party fun.

And it’s got alllll the features to make sure you keep coming back for more:

  • Online multiplayer play? It’s got it.
  • Local/Couch multiplayer play? You betcha.
  • Custom game modes and options? Better believe it.
  • Modding potential to put YOUR FACE (and your friends) into the game? Right here.

It’s the total (ahem) …package.

Why yes, that is my mug on that chiselled Adonis

And sure, there is technically a 3D sequel from Stegersaurus Software (Mount Your Friends 3D: A Hard Man is Good to Climb) that has been released; it has never quite tickled me the same way the 2D man-mountain-making Mount Your Friends has for years and years.

It’s a game from eight years ago, that receives no updates and therefore never changes. But to me, it’s like a comfort food – I am GRATEFUL that it never changes. The experience I promise new gaming friends will always be what I describe, and when it’s sale time – you better believe it’s going to be the same couple o’ bucks cost of entry that I love.

If I have managed to convert you into the cult of climbing your comrades, shoot on over to the Steam Store and grab this absolute gem for it’s absurdly low price while the summer sale continues. Heck, stalk me in the comments and demand I climb with you – I welcome all challengers to my temple of greasy, grabby meat.

Is this the experience you were looking for? If not, why on Earth not? Shout out in the comments below and on our social media channels.
