Upcoming cult infiltration game The Church in the Darkness is arriving on August 2nd of this year, its latest trailer has revealed. The trailer also announced a Switch port of the game.
Developed by veteran director Richard Rouse III, known for 2004’s The Suffering, The Church in the Darkness has you sneaking into a 1970s cult to rescue your nephew from its manipulative clutches.
I reckoned the game a potential showstopper in my preview, where I called it ‘an impressively bold attempt to put a mirror up to your own beliefs.’
In our interview with Richard Rouse III, we discovered that The Church in the Darkness’ influences include Castle Wolfenstein and Apocalypse Now.
The Church in the Darkness will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC.
