The Nintendo Switch 2 Has Been Officially Revealed

Our first look is finally here

Nintendo has finally revealed the Nintendo Switch 2 with a short reveal trailer focusing on the console’s features.

After months of leaks, rumours, and reports, Nintendo has lifted the lid on the successor to the massive popular Switch, releasing a two-minute reveal trailer highlighting the console’s new features and improvements. The Switch 2 will feature a larger display, an improved kickstand (from the original, not the OLED model), charging ports at the top and bottom of the device, and a mysterious new button that we still know precious little about.

The Joy-Cons are larger and will now connect magnetically to the unit, ditching the sometimes awkward rail system. The larger size also means larger buttons, notably the shoulder buttons that have always been tricky to use when playing multiplayer on the Switch. Interestingly, we also see the Joy-Cons placed on their spine and moved across a surface, almost like you can use them as a mouse? We’ll have to wait and see on that.

The reveal trailer is short and sweet, but we’ll be getting more info during an announced Nintendo Direct, focused on the new console, taking place on April 2. Shortly thereafter, there will be hands-on events held worldwide, with Melbourne being the place to be for Aussie Nintendo fans.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Experience will take place at Centrepiece at Melbourne Park on May 1o and 11. Registration for the event will go live on January 18 at 11am AEDT, with successful applicants being drawn randomly.
