The Occupation Looks Awesome In Latest Gameplay Trailer

Whip on your Thinking Cap

White Paper Games have dropped a lengthy gameplay trailer for The Occupation, showcasing just exactly what we can expect to do in the real time, investigative thriller.

As investigative journalist Harvey Miller, you are tasked with the job of investigating an explosion in North West England that has led to the death of 23 people, which in turn has triggered an act that now threatens the personal freedoms of the people of Britain.

The roughly 10-minute trailer aptly titled “Investigating a Lead” highlights just how intricate the game is striving to be, highlighting the different approaches that Harvey can take in order to collect evidence.

What’s also interesting is that the game is in real time, meaning time past in real life is the same in the world of The Occupation. It’s up to you in the end if you want to take time to plan your moves at the risk of losing time, or if you want to take the quickest route at the risk of being caught. People also grow more suspicious of you when they come to realise things aren’t quite right, which sounds like an excellent gameplay mechanic if implemented properly.

As a huge fan of White Paper Games previous release Ether One, I can’t help but expect The Occupation to be an engaging experience. I am still cautiously optimistic however, as the in-depth systems on display in the trailer are a big step forward from the work they’ve done in the past.

The Occupation releases on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 5th March. In the meantime however, you can watch the new gameplay trailer below:
