The Studio Behind Immortals Of Aveum Has Laid Of Close To Half Of Its Staff

Very sad news

Ascendant Studios’ CEO Bret Robbins has announced that nearly 45% of the studio’s staff has unfortunately been let go.

Taking to X (Twitter) with a lengthy, heartbreaking statement, Robbins confirms that nearly half of the team has been laid off less than a month after the release of the studio’s first game, Immortals of Aveum. The statement claims that laid-off employees will be supported with “comprehensive severance packages and job placement assistance,” but it’s still devastating news.

Interestingly, the statement doesn’t provide a clear answer as to why this mass redundancy has taken place, outside of a brief line that mentions that “we have made this adjustment now that Immortals of Aveum has shipped.”

We send out best wishes to all those who have lost their jobs and hope that the talented folks find new gigs soon.

In our review of Immortals of Aveum, we said that “Immortals of Aveum is an enchanting battlemage adventure and a satisfying spell-shooter in a breathtaking world filled with annoying personalities.” We gave the game an 8.5.
