TimeSplitters, Free Radical’s much-loved PS2 shooter from 2000, has been rated for release on both PS5 and PS4 in Taiwan, indicating the series OG could soon be gracing current PlayStation consoles.
Spotted by Gematsu, it’s likely that the PS2 version will be added to the PlayStation’s Classics program, which is included as part of the PS Plus Premium subscription.

Earlier this year, Free Radical Design was shut down by parent company Embracer and the latest TimeSplitters entry was shelved, leaving fans of the long-dormant series praying for another miracle after Plaion (Koch Media at the time) acquired the TimeSplitters IP from Crytek in 2018. Leaked footage of a prototype build of the newest entry surfaced in March 2024, showing the project had taken a Fortnite approach. However, series co-creator and Free Radical bigwig Steve Ellis said that the studio explored various ideas for the game.
