Developers Deconstructeam and Selkie Harbour and publisher Devolver Digital have announced Virtue and a Sledgehammer, a contemplative exploration game coming to PC in 2026.
Debuting during this morning’s Day of the Devs showcase, Virtue with a Sledgehammer is a narrative-driven exploration game that asks you to work through your trauma by taking a blunt object to it. Upon returning to your hometown, you find your old neighbours replaced with digitised robot versions, begging to have a sledgehammer swung their way. Working through your former home and your repressed emotions, you’ll need to knock down walls and robots alike to uncover memories, both good and bad.
Heavily stylised with visuals reminiscent of the PS1, Virtue with a Sledgehammer looks unique and comes packaged with a killer premise. This won’t be a surprise for anyone who played Deconstructeam’s last release, The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood, a game with an equally slick presentation and killer gameplay loop. Albeit quite different to what we’re seeing here.
