Will Arnett Looks How We All Feel About That Twisted Metal Trailer

Will looking like he’s been up ‘All Night Long’

That thong th-thong, thong, thong.

It’s been a big day for reveals today, and another to add to the list is a proper first-look at some on-screen action to come from the Twisted Metal series, coming to Peacock.

It’s pretty exciting to see a throw down between Anthony Mackie’s “John Doe” character, especially when he is facing off the iconic face (or mask) of the Twisted Metal mythos – the serial killer known as Needles Kane – a.k.a Sweet Tooth.

Only the trailer takes a somewhat odd turn when the comedic element introduces Sisqó’s “Thong Song”:

Now, comedy is something open to interpretation – and a series as oddball as Twisted Metal probably depends on some comedic writing to explain the crazier elements. But this entire scene has me super confused as to what to expect from the series. I figured it would be darkly humorous – or maybe humorously dark, but now I have no idea what to expect. It’s weird seeing a psychotic clownman deliver lines that seem like they belong to the bumbling henchman. Woah, you like this song too? DID WE JUST BECOME BEST FRIENDS?

Like most things, you likely need to give it room to breathe and establish itself – Hell, the Paramount Halo series needed at least 10 minutes of run-time before it started to stink up the joint – so perhaps Twisted Metal is a masterpiece waiting to be discovered.

Or maybe the first episode will leave us all looking like my boy Will Arnett when he called in to the Summer Games Fest today.

What did you make of the trailer? Did it get your motor running? Let us know in the comments or on social media.
