Ubisoft has announced that its upcoming first-person shooter XDefiant has been delayed until an undisclosed date.
The turbulent faction-based online shooter recently ran a Public Test Session that allowed players to jump in and play the game early to stress test servers and help identify any issues ahead of launch. Well, it seems the PTS did exactly that, as an X (Twitter) statement revealed that Ubisoft’s answer to Call of Duty would be delayed, with no updated release date or window provided. The statement claims that “[The Public Test Session] also surfaced some inconsistencies in the game experience that we need to address prior to launching our Preseason.”

I don’t think anyone would argue that a complete experience will beat out a buggy mess on launch, but XDefiant is a bit of an unproven commodity, and repeated delays don’t inspire confidence. In saying that, the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is right around the corner, so getting out of the goliath’s way probably isn’t a bad idea.
