20th Century Fox Launches Indie Game Development Fund; First Game Will Be Gravity-Shifting Puzzler Etherborn

Fox getting shifty

Entertainment and Hollywood powerhouse 20th Century Fox has today announced the FoxNet Games development fund.

Under this program, indie video game developers who are willing to push the creative envelope may be able to secure funding and support to help them realise their dream or take their game to the next level.

Speaking about the announcement was FoxNet Games’ Vice President of External Development, TQ Jefferson.

As passionate creators of games, we’ve been searching for like-minded developers focused on innovation, experimentation and a certain amount of creative risk. We’re looking to partner with inspiring game makers, providing the support they need to develop the best version of their games and ultimately connect with the widest audience possible.

The first game to be a part of this initiative is Altered Matter’s colourful gravity-shifting puzzler Etherborn.  Despite being in development still, Etherborn has received a number of awards for its creative level design and beautiful art style, among others.

Etherborn is a story about a voiceless entity in pursuit of a mysterious voice as it tackles shifting and mind-bending environments. Altered Matter are aiming for an Autumn 2019 release on PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC.

The game was originally crowdfunded on the Fig platform, reaching its goal of $30,000 USD on the final day. We were lucky enough to go hands-on with the game early last year and found it to be a beautiful, elegant and challenging puzzler.
