PlayStation Reveals Which PS4 Peripherals Will Be Compatible With The PS5

With every new console generation there’s a new generation of peripherals. When Sony unveiled the design of the PlayStation 5 back in June they also announced a slew of accessories alongside it. However, buying accessories is an expensive business and not everyone is as rich as Dan Bilzerian and can afford every new piece of tech all at once, so naturally players are wondering whether their PS4 peripherals will be compatible with the PS5. Tonight PlayStation has posted a FAQ of sorts about which PS4 accessories players will be able to use on their PS5.

• Given that they’re such a cash cow for PlayStation, it’s not surprising to read that DualShock 4 controllers will not work with PS5 games, with PlayStation stating that their belief is that “PS5 games should take advantage of the new capabilities and features we’re bringing to the platform, including the features of DualSense wireless controller.” However, players will be able to use the DualShock 4 and officially licensed third-party controllers with PS4 supported titles.
• When it comes to audio, PlayStation’s Platinum and Gold Wireless Headsets will work good as…gold with the PS5, and players will be able to use their third-party headsets, as long as they connect via USB port or audio jack. Although the headset companion app is not compatible with PS5.
• Move controllers and PSVR Aim controller will work with supported PSVR titles.
• The PlayStation Camera will be compatible with supported PSVR titles on the PS5. However, players will need to use an adaptor that will be provided free of charge. More details on how to get the adaptor will be announced at a later date.
• Steering wheels, arcade controllers and other speciality accessories will work with supported PS5 and PS4 games.

There’s certainly more compatible accessories than what I was expecting, which means players will have more cash for games without the need to upgrade every piece of hardware for their next-gen setup.
