Sony has announced that a PlayStation 5 Technical Presentation will take place tomorrow at 1am AEST.
Announced on the PlayStation Blog, the nine-minute presentation will be hosted by PS5 Lead Architect Mark Cerny and will “focus on PS5 and innovations in gaming technology.” Now, we don’t know what the video will cover, but we absolutely do.
The long-rumoured mid-generation iteration of the PS5 has been popping up everywhere over the last few weeks, with billbil-kun of Dealabs even leaking/revealing the design for the hardware. Unsurprisingly, the console is said to be called the PS5 Pro and will share a similar form factor with the base PS5 but with several black stripes through the middle of the device.

Dealabs has a good track record when it comes to leaks, but more fuel was thrown on the fire when PlayStation dropped promotional images for the brand’s 30th anniversary. The iconic triangle, circle, X (I’m not calling it cross, and square symbols on the image are comprised of shadows of PlayStation consoles and peripherals, all of which look familiar…except one. While the rogue shadow doesn’t match any available hardware, it does share a striking resemblance to the aforementioned leaked design.
In any case, we will know more about the new console in less than a day, so you can bet I’ll stay awake and sacrifice tomorrow’s productivity to see what all the fuss is about.
