It hasn’t taken long for speedrunners to absolutely demolish FromSoftware’s newest action RPG, Elden Ring. Recently, speedrunner Niko Bellic beat the game in around two and a half hours without dying, a really impressive feat. Almost makes me consider my 80 hours speedrun with 500 deaths. This is not all, however, as prominent Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice speedrunner, LilAggy, has beaten this game in under an hour. Yep, this person has beaten the game in less time than it took for me to make my character when I was reviewing the game (I spend a lot of time making sure my characters are as ugly as possible).

Honestly, I knew that speedruns would do some crazy stuff, but being optimised enough to beat the game in under an hour in just two weeks? That’s crazy. Obviously, there are some known items and options used, like the Samurai starter, which has high dexterity and immediate access to a bleed weapon, as well as some exploits which make some troublesome bosses a cakewalk, but this is all impressive stuff.
It’s only a matter of time until we see more and more time shaved from the completion.
