The 7.0 “Trygon update” has arrived within Space Marine 2, bringing with it new prestige perks, further weapon options for many classes and finally a new PvE operation that ends with a terrifying new boss encounter.

Face the Trygon in the new Exfiltration mission, blast your enemies with the Inferno Pistol and customise your Space Marines with the Space Wolves and Imperial Fists DLCs.
Exterminate that abomination, Space Marines. ⚔️

The new operation mission is named Exfiltration and will see you stomping your way across the sandy outskirts to lock horns with a terrifying new Tyranid beast – a slithery bugger known as a Trygon:
Exfiltration takes place on Avarax at the outskirts of an Imperial Hive City ravaged by the Tyranids. Your mission is to reach a Mechanicus facility, extract a rogue Tech-Priest and fight a Trygon; a giant, burrowing Tyranid that creates underground passageways for other Tyranid organisms.
For many, a very welcome addition is the expansion of weapon options across the classes. A surefire way to shake up your usual foray into bug killing is to try out different swatters, and this does just that.
The new weapon allocations include:
- Heavy: Heavy Bolt Rifle, Heavy Bolt Pistol
- Tactical: Combat Knife, Plasma Pistol, Heavy Bolt Pistol
- Assault: Power Sword, Plasma Pistol
- Bulwark: Heavy Bolt Pistol
- Sniper: Heavy Bolt Pistol, Instigator Bolt Carbine
- Vanguard: Heavy Bolt Pistol, Bolt Carbine
It does make me chuckle a bit to see the Heavy class finally have access to the Heavy Bolt Rifle – given the naming convention (and their tabletop incarnation) you’d think this would have been a day one inclusion.
There is also a new secondary weapon in the form of the Inferno Pistol, a sidearm pocket melta that should do serious work for thinning crowds.
Besides this, more cosmetic DLC has been added to the game in accordance with the season pass – including the Space Wolves Chapter Pack and the Imperial Fists Champion Pack. As a Space Wolf player, I can now dive deep into dressing up my murder Barbies in appropriately flavoured wolf-ness.
There are also a huge list of perk updates and changes to accommodate the new Prestige system being added to the game – which allows players to re-level their favourite classes and gain both new perks, and new cosmetic items. All of these can be read in the Forum Post over at the Focus Community page, because it is well worth a CTRL+F to find your class and weapons of choice.
It’s a girthy slew of content for the game, so if you have been resting on your battle barge – now is the perfect time to gear up, and head out to pound some bugs. For the Emperor!
What new feature in the Trygon update has you all aflutter? Is it new gun options, or having a new bug to shoot with them? Let us know in the comments or on social media.
