Accessibility Tags Are Being Added To The PlayStation Store For PS5 Users

A solid addition to the store

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that new accessibility tags are being added to PS5 games on the PlayStation Store this week.

As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, these tags will give developers the opportunity to provide their customers with vital information about a game’s accessibility features. Navigating to a supported game’s page on the PlayStation Store, PS5 users will be able to press Triangle to view all of the accessibility tags, giving them an overview of the game’s features at a quick glance. The tags will be available for supported PS5 and PS4 games on PS5 consoles and will range from audio and visual settings to controller options and more.

There will be over 50 accessibility tags available to developers, slotting into six different categories:

  • Visual accessibility features, such as clear text, large text, colour alternatives, audio cues and directional audio indicators.
  • Audio features, such as volume controls, mono audio, screen reader and visual cue alternatives.
  • Subtitle and caption options, including subtitle size, clear captions, and large captions.
  • Control options, including button remapping, thumbstick sensitivity, and ability to play without button holds, rapid button presses or motion control.
  • Gameplay options, such as difficulty settings, skippable puzzles, simplified quick-time events, and game speed.
  • Online communication options, such as text or voice chat transcription and ping communication.

PlayStation has also published a short video that shows where to find the accessibility tags that you can watch here:
