As a Carlton supporter I’ve been through many years of bad football (like real bad), but I’ve always been able to take solace in the fact that I could guide the Old Dark Navy Blues to glory in whatever AFL game was current at the time. With this week’s release of AFL 23 it seems that the tables have turned, with the real life Bluebaggers on the up and the latest AFL video game a sad and broken affair.
Excited players booted up the game on launch day to find the game full of bugs, broken gameplay mechanics and missing modes, notably Pro Team.
AFL 23’s developer Big Ant Studios revealed that the launch issues stemmed from the day one patch, and while two patches have been deployed and have mitigated some of the issues, the current state of the game is nowhere near what players expected and what Big Ant and the AFL would be happy with.
Big Ant has tonight published the game’s road map, detailing what fixes, features and modes are incoming over the next week.

I’ve been playing the game for review and so far my experience has been about as enjoyable as watching Carlton get beat by over 100 points by GWS when they have two less players on the field.
Hopefully Big Ant can turn the game around and quickly, because both football fans and gamers aren’t known for their patience when things aren’t going their way.
