Last week we reported that the console release for Agony in Australia had shifted from its global date of May 29 to June 8. The game’s Australian distributor confirmed to WellPlayed that this would be the case for both the physical and digital versions of the game. However, it seems the distributor has told us a porky, as the game is currently available for purchase on both the PSN ($54.95) and XBL ($52.45) stores. Players waiting for the Steam version will have wait for the game to unlock which may not be until around 2 am on Wednesday (30/05) morning. The physical release, which is a JB Hi-Fi exclusive, is still set for a June 8 release.
Agony has found itself in censorship hot water recently, with the game’s developer having to pull the plug on a PC patch that would remove the game’s censorship due to legal pressure. Thankfully the censored parts of Agony only add up to a handful of seconds in two of the game’s seven endings, as well a few bits and pieces seen in the game once the ending has been reached.
Currently there are no reviews available for Agony and we’re waiting to receive review code from Madmind (I’m also still awaiting my Kickstarter code for the game). If you’re on the fence about Agony I’d recommend holding off until reviews drop. Hopefully we’ll have a review up in the coming days for you to feast your eyes on.
