So Transformers: Reactivate is an ongoing nightmare for fans of the changing robots. A short trailer at The Game Awards a few years ago confirmed two things:
- The game would have Transformers in it
- The name of the game
And bugger all else. The game has had no official news of worth since that trailer release, but the myriad of Transformers fans out there have been combing through every dumpster, dustbin and desk drawer to learn whatever they can – it was enough to make me swear when talking about the game as part of my Anticipated Titles of 2024 entry.
And sure enough, those seekers of truth have yielded another discovery – a long forgotten cinematic concept for the games opening sequence, from back when the game was titled Transformers: RISE:

Of course, the starved legion of Transformers fans are devouring this table scrap – but it is far from sustenance. This represents the game as it was a long long time ago, and while the concept and story may still be somewhat accurate (the current game has a similar setting to the best of our knowledge) it still doesn’t forward the current hunger for any real information.
It’s maddening when a game is revealed via a cinematic example and showcases nothing of what to truly expect – it lends well to the ongoing argument that studios really shouldn’t pull the marketing ripcord until they are positioned to maintain a healthy stream of information.
But for now, let’s wistfully look at this ancient animatic and ask the ongoing question:
What the fuck is Transformers: Reactivate anyway?
What do you think of the leaked cinematic? Agree that it confirms nothing we didn’t already know? Let us know in the comments or on social media.
