Aussie-Made Heartfelt Narrative Wayward Strand Lands On Consoles And PC In July

Time to get airborne

Ghost Pattern has announced overnight that its heartfelt narrative game Wayward Strand will release on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam) on July 21, 2022.

Wayward Strand, which has been in development for six years, is set in 1978 onboard an airship-turned-hospital. Playing as Casey, a budding 14-year-old journalist, you join your mother (who is a nurse) onboard the airborne hospital and engage with the patients and uncover their stories as well as the secrets of the airship. The themes and topics the game will cover includes “empathy, intergenerational relationships, care and neglect, as well as exploring the day-to-day lives of older people and care workers.”

While it sounds simple on paper, Wayward Strand’s hook is that at any one time there could be multiple stories to uncover, meaning that players will need to play through the game multiple times if they want to experience everything. Ghost Pattern states that players could experience up to a dozen playthroughs to see and hear everything. You can take a squizz at some gameplay below:

Will you be joining Casey onboard the airship this July? Let us know in the comments or on social media.
