Battlefield 6 Season 1 – California Resistance Has Gone Live With A New Map, Mode, Vehicle, And More

Gardens, greens, and golf carts

Battlefield 6 Season 1 – California Resistance has kicked off today, bringing with it a new map, a new limited-time mode, new weapons, and more.

The first portion of Battlefield 6’s first season, titled Rogue Ops, brought with it a new map in Blackwell Fields, the Strikepoint game mode, and a beefy new transport vehicle. Oh, and it introduced a free-to-play offering complete with a battle royale and a round-based mode for eight squads of four.

Battlefield 6’s post-launch content kicked off with a bang, and California Resistance looks to be continuing the trend. Starting this morning, players can jump into the new Eastwood map, set in the sun-soaked neighbourhoods of Southern California. Eastwood features plenty of residential housing to tear through, as well as a golf course littered with drivable golf carts.

This season update also introduces a new limited-time mode in Sabotage. This fast-paced mode challenges squads to destroy as many sites as possible within the match timeframe, competing against opposing players who are trying to do the same. The free-to-play Gauntlet mode also saw some love with the new Rodeo match type. In this mode, players will fight for control of various vehicles dotted across the map, with additional points awarded to those who can rack up kills while in the armoured death dealers.

Those jumping into Battlefield REDSEC’s battle royale will be able to gear up using new SCIFs around Fort Lyndon. These prepper stashes will be filled with weapons and other gear to make your survival a bit easier, so it’s worth keeping an eye out. The community-driven Portal suite now extends to Fort Lynden, giving those creatives among us a vast canvas to create modes and match types within.

Lastly, three new gear items are being thrown into the pool. The new DB-12 shotgun is joined by the M357 Trait siderm and the Slim Handstop attachment.

If you’re someone who has jumped into Battlefield REDSEC but hasn’t experienced the full-fat Battlefield 6 game modes and maps yet, you’ll soon have your chance. A collection of five modes and three maps will be featured in a free trial between November 25 11PM AEDT – December 2 11PM AEDT.

Battlefield 6 looks to be ticking boxes for a lot of the fanbase, including us here at the WellPlayed office. We gave Battlefield 6 a nine in our review, saying, “Battlefield 6 does more than recapture the feeling, it sets a new benchmark for the series. A return to classes and squad-based gameplay are met by excellent maps, tight controls, and an all-timer of a new mode, making this an unmissable multiplayer experience.”
