We find ourselves a few weeks closer to Borderlands 4, and with this new proximity we can enjoy another round of character introductory material.
Todays subject is Rafa the Exo-Soldier, a super versatile vault hunter who makes use of an exo-suit to do TWO things:
- Manifest amazing weapons to murderise his enemies
- Stop his low-gravity raised body from being crushed to death
How fun.
Take a looky-loo at this gameplay overview here:
As a former Tediore trooper, Rafa is on the cutting edge of manifesting weapons. Whether it’s a pair of humming Arc-Knives for the sake of carving up his foes, raining firepower on everything in front of him via the Peacebreaker Cannons, or skewering through a conga line of losers with his APOPHIS Lance – he has everything you need for a proper murder party.
In fact, when faced with the option between playing as Rafa or the magic murder-gal Vex at a hands-on event – I was actually swayed to give Rafa a blast. The siren call of gothic wizardry just didn’t phase me.
I even have footage of that long-form gameplay experience below:
While it is cool to see a proper overview of Rafa, it is a bit of a shame that he did not seem to receive a narrative-driven short like Vex did. I loved the Purple Friday clip, it was a fun glimpse into what makes Vex tick as a character, and considering Rafa lives with the constant threat of instantaneous death due to gravity crushing, I can’t help but feel he’d have some fun stuff to say about it.
Edit: Hey, he DID get one in the end! Check it out: Borderlands 4’s Rafa Gets An Official Character Short After All
