Revolution Software would be happy chappies today, with its Broken Sword – The Smoking Mirror: Reforged Collector’s Edition Kickstarter campaign ending with a total of £743,138 pledged, absolutely obliterating its £50,000 goal.
It’s big money for a game that was first released in 1997, and a series that has seen only one new entry since 2006 in Broken Sword 5: The Serpent’s Curse (2013–2014). But it shows the loyalty and admiration that fans have for the game and series.
It’s worth clarifying that this Kickstarter was purely for the Collector’s Editions, with the game being funded by Revolution Software. However, we do hope that any leftover funds are put towards the development of Broken Sword 6 – Parzival’s Stone.
This reforged version of Broken Sword II promises 4K visuals, enhanced audio, and modern accessibility from a gameplay perspective. Currently there’s no firm release date for Broken Sword – The Smoking Mirror: Reforged, however, the Steam page says “Coming soon” and the digital rewards from the Kickstarter are scheduled for September 2026, so hopefully the wait to get our hands on it isn’t too long.
