CD Projekt Red Announces Multiple Witcher Games, A Cyberpunk Sequel And A New IP

A huge bunch of announcements

During its Group Strategy Update, CD Projekt Red has announced three new Witcher games, a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, and a brand new IP are all in development.

We know precious little about these upcoming projects, as they are all in various early development stages, but the codenames and general information for each have been unveiled.

The next game in the Cyberpunk series, currently referred to as Project Orion, will be developed by CD Projekt’s new North American studio and will apparently “fully unleash the potential of the Cyberpunk universe.”

“Our plans are certainly ambitious, and call for a great deal of work, dedication and further growth. This is why we’re setting up a new team in Boston, which, together with the expanding Vancouver team, will form our new studio – CD PROJEKT RED North America. As a result, we will be able to fully tap into the North American talent pool,” said CD Projekt Vice President and CFO Piotr Nielubowicz.

It looks like The Witcher IP will be getting a workout over the next few years, with three titles in active development. The first, named Project Polaris, is the new title that CDPR previously announced back in March. This game will act as the launching point for a new trilogy, with the second and third instalments set to release in a six-year window that will begin with the launch of Polaris.

The next Witcher title, Project Canis Majoris, will be separate from the aforementioned trilogy and helmed by an external studio under the supervision of devs that have previously worked on the series.

The third and final Witcher title announced is Project Sirius. In development at the Boston-based studio The Molasses Flood, this Witcher game will feature both single-player and multiplayer gameplay. Very little has been said about this project, but a story, quests and a campaign have been confirmed for the single-player offering.

Lastly, CDPR announced that they’re working on a brand new IP named Project Hadar. It’s yet to reach the development stage and is currently in the “earliest stages of the creative process.” This will mark the first title that has been created entirely from within CDPR.
