Remedy Entertainment has just announced that, alongside their other projects, Control 2 is officially in development. The development studio, which is currently working on Alan Wake 2, a Control multiplayer game, another multiplayer game, and remakes for Max Payne 1 & 2, has just signed a co-development and co-publishing deal with 505 Games. The details can be found on their investor site but some important points are as follows:
- Remedy Entertainment will retain ownership of the Control IP
- The initial budget will sit around EUR 50 million
- Development, marketing, investments and future net revenue are to be split between the developer and the newly-signed publisher

Game Director of the series, Mikael Kasurinen, shared some words regarding this announcement and stated: “this is the most exciting project I’ve ever worked on.” There is no release date or window given, the only thing regarding when we can expect it is from Kasurinen who said “It’s still early days, but it will be worth the wait.”
The original Control was released on August 27, 2019, and was met with critical acclaim, garnering a Metacritic score of 85, and our very own Kieran Stockton scored the game an 8 stating “Control’s unique multi-dimensional setting and quirky sci-fi tone make for a good time, even when the combat doesn’t quite rise to the same level.”
Control 2 is set to release on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC; you will need to upgrade if you wish to play this sequel. The game is also being built on Remedy’s proprietary Northlight engine, which comes as no surprise.
