Developer Sad Cat Studios and publisher Thunderful Publishing have announced that the 2.5D platformer, Replaced, will be released on Xbox Series X|S and PC on March 13, 2026.
Originally announced during the Xbox showcase at E3 in 2021, Replaced is a 2.5D platformer set in a dystopian alternate 1980s America, one that never fully recovered from a nuclear event. Taking place in Phoenix City, the player will embody R.E.A.C.H., an AI shackled to a human body, who seeks to uncover the truth behind its creation, all while exposing the shady Phoenix Corporation. Now, can you see from that elevator pitch why we’ve been so eager to play this game for the past four years?
Part thriller, part action-platformer, Replaced has seen its release window shift significantly over the years, with the ongoing war in Ukraine among the driving factors. Based in Belarus, Sad Cat Studios saw part of the team relocate from Ukraine back in 2022, which hampered development and pushed the project back. Thankfully, we now have a concrete date to mark on our calendars.
