Darktide Developers Commit To Fixing Player Pain Points In Community Update

They have heard your woes, rejects

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has had a week for it’s dust to settle, and amongst those granules there was some pointy bits. Players rightfully condemned a fairly gross implementation of an in-game store, lack of a crafting system (even going so far as to have a COMING SOON flag in the game itself) and they directed general grumble at some curious decisions that just came across as player unfriendly.

Well, developer Fatshark has taken to Steam to put forth a community update that details their commitment to the game, getting into some very granular detail on each pain point that players have been vocal about – and it is all very promising. The gist of it includes:

  • A new update is coming on December 14
  • More weapons will be added, with two coming in the above-mentioned update
  • The in-game store will have it’s currency bundles changes to stop ‘orphan’ currency
  • Crafting system will see it’s first iteration in the next content update
  • ‘Private Play’ lobbies will be available next week
  • Emotes are coming!
  • Shared currency across characters – they recognise players want this, and are looking into it
  • Penances (basically specific in game challenges) will be looked at, because some are hard to understand and others are just selfish to achieve in a group

I have been closely following Darktide since it’s release, because I too saw some of it’s flaws – and I am wholly aware of just how much Fatshark changed its previous titles over time. Vermintide 2 in particular was heavily amended over it’s lifespan to squash issues, so I had a healthy amount of confidence that Darktide would receive similar care and attention.

A Reddit thread has been posted with a link to the Community Update, where players are both praising the recognition of problems; but also highlighting some missing ones:

It’s refreshing to see such transparency from the developers of a title – many huge gaming bodies are slow to acknowledge player issues, if they do so at all. To see the hottest topics collected, bullet point style, and commented on in such a succinct manner does a lot to remind us that Fatshark genuinely do love what they make and want it to be loved by others too.

Are you enjoying your experience in Tertium? Did you catch our review, where we gave the game an 8, and said that it is a title that comes with a fat promise of more great things to come? Let us know in the comments or on our social media.
