Dawn of War IV Story Trailer Reveals Some Serious Reinforcements Are Coming To Kronus

The Lion himself makes an appearance

A stunning new story trailer for Dawn of War IV has graced the internet today, setting the scene for what players should expect upon their return to the planet Kronus.

Sure enough Orks are squabbling on the surface, Adeptus Mechanics and Necrons are Scooby Doo’ing underground – and the Blood Ravens Space Marine legion has called in some back up.

And holy shit, it’s the Dark Angels lead by the big lad himself:

The Dawn of War series has always played a little coy with the wider lore of Warhammer 40,000 – controversially dropping an entirely fresh Space Marine legion in its debut as a way to tell a story that is widely divorced from the rest of the galaxy. While cameos have happened, they were hardly a key part of Dawn of Wars narrative – christ, the Ultramarines basically did a fly-by visit in Winter Assault that equated to a wink and a smile.

So seeing not only a different Space Marine chapter, but one of the arguably “Big Four” is enormous. That, and the mysterious robed weirdoes are being lead by their Primarch, Lion El’Jonson. What is a Primarch? Basically a super-Space Marine, one of the original mega-humans made as the starting point for all Space Marines. And he is setting foot on Kronus, so this conflict is clearly going to get wild.

It paints a pretty splendid picture for fans eager to get back into the swing of Dawn of War’ing, so bring on 2026 and show us how the smackdown turns out.

Were you shocked to see the Dark Angels appear in the trailer? Are you disappointed it wasn’t <your favourite chapter here>? Let us know in the comments, or on our social media.
