Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is finally here, and developer Kojima Productions has celebrated by releasing one final trailer.
Please. Don’t Watch. It.
Now, you might think I’m warning you off a trailer that’s poorly made or wonky, but it’s the complete opposite. This monstrous six-minute trailer is just as cinematic as the game it’s selling you on, and you’ll get a very good look at what to expect from this amazing sequel, but that’s the biggest problem.
At six minutes in length, you might assume this trailer gives you a direct injection of the opening moments of the game, or a walkthrough of an entire delivery (we’ve got you covered in that respect). Instead, this mini movie gives you way, WAY too many plot points and pulls back the curtain on far too many set pieces that are integral to the plot. If you’re a casual observer of Kojima’s games and curious about Death Stranding 2, but not hooked enough to play through 40 hours of delivering packages, feel free to watch the trailer. However, if you’re interested in playing DS2 yourself, this is a public service announcement: do not watch this trailer.
But hey, I’m not your parent. If you want to ignore my advice and give this brilliantly bloated trailer a watch, you can do so here:
I’ve spent the last few weeks trekking across Mexico and Australia in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, and I am completely enamoured with this near-perfect sequel. I gave the game a 10 in my review, where I had this to say:
“Immensely self-assured in the quality of its foundation, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach masterfully iterates and refines, while introducing considered additions that complement the experience, not complicate it.”
Are you playing Death Stranding 2? Did you heed my warning and steer clear of this trailer? Let us know in the comments or on our social media.
