Diablo IV’s First Season Is Now Live

It is a malignant monster mash

For those stepping forth into the world of Sanctuary this day, you may find things to be a little …icky.

The first Season of Diablo IV is titled Season of the Malignant – and features a new Season Journey, Questline, Boss, Dungeons and Battle Pass.

Slotting into the worlds narrative, the celebration of all things gross and corrupted takes root with the following explanation:

A deviant form of Lilith’s sinister machinations has given birth to a new threat, Malignant Monsters. These decaying abominations roam Sanctuary in a frenzy, mindlessly attacking anyone in range without hesitation. Wanderers will investigate this mysterious malady in a new Questline with the help of Cormond, a former priest of the Cathedral of Light, who also trains you to capture the Malignant Hearts fueling these foul beasts and convert them into build-altering powers. The malignancy that’s taken hold of the Burning Hells’ armies cannot remain unchecked—you must snuff it out at the source before all of Sanctuary becomes its thrall.

Thankfully, you are well rewarded for taking care of this gross problem. Slaying corrupted enemies within the world will reward you with a Malignant Heart – you can then perform a ritual to manifest a truly horrid corrupted boss monster, and slay it for your rewards. If you are stuck with trying to find these gross heart-havers, there are actually new dungeons known as ‘Malignant Tunnels’ that will offer plenty of foes to eradicate.

The seasonal journey also offers a full breadth of objectives to work towards, rewarding you with goodies and Battle Pass progress to help you get through those 90 tiers of content.
