Diablo’s Holy Warrior Class Returns To The Game

A new expansion brings a familiar friend back to the fold

Blizzard have revealed that April of 2026 will herald a new Diablo IV expansion release – with Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred pitting us foolish mortals against the prime evil Mephisto following his slow ascension in the Vessel of Hatred chapter.

But we are not alone, because the holy warrior of games past has returned as a playable class – with the PALADIN finally bringing the blinding light of justice to bear:

Being a full fledged expansion means there is a lot more going on than just a biffo with Diablo’s dorky brother – with a whole new area to explore in Skovos, the ancestral birthplace of the first civilization and the
former home of Lilith and Inarius and a promise of “the most comprehensive gameplay evolution since launch” for the game, with deeply reworked skill trees, enhanced crafting systems and even the return of EVERYONE’S favourite box: The Horadric Cube.

The story sizzle gives us a glimpse of what kind of nefarious bad guy bullshit is at play with Mephisto intending to make use of ancient macguffins to reshape the world into a hellish paradise:

In the aftermath of Vessel of Hatred, this next chapter drives players toward their final stand against Mephisto, whose deception and spreading influence threaten to twist Sanctuary into a world consumed by malice. As Hell’s legions surge and the ancient Pools of Creation draw Mephisto ever closer, the fate of humanity hangs by a thread. To stop him, the Wanderer must embrace an old foe long believed to be dead. Lilith returns, her prophetic last words echoing true, forcing a perilous alliance bound by necessity rather than trust. With time and allies running out, the Wanderer is in a desperate race to stop Mephisto before hatred reshapes the world forever.

The final part of the reveal is that another class is to be included in this expansion experience – but it is not yet ready to be unveiled. The only hint that is given is that “its power undeniable, its arrival poised to reshape the battlefield” so if you have some kind of idea what that means, but all means let me know.
