Geoff Keighley set the gaming community on fire when he posted a picture of a mysterious statue on his socials. That fire grew into a real blaze once it was discovered that the statue existed and was sitting in a desert in California.
Thanks to an announcement during The Game Awards 2025, we now know that it was hinting at Divinity, the next game from Larian Studios, the team behind Baldur’s Gate 3.
The announcement was made in a grandiose manner, with a whole stage performance, complete with an actor being lifted high into the air within the Peacock Theatre. This was quickly followed by a brutal trailer that depicted cultists sacrificing a bound man, wickerman style. Of course, things end badly for them, with many of their bodies being assimilated to form a huge gate, reminiscent of the one Geoff plopped out in the sand.
We really don’t know anything more than that, but Keighley did mention that this RPG will be Larian’s biggest game to date, which is an insane call when the studio’s last game was Baldur’s Gate 3.
