Life is Strange and Vampyr developer Dontnod has revealed its new narrative adventure game Tell Me Why at X019 this morning.
Set in a small Alaskan town, Tell Me Why will focus on twins Tyler and Alyson Ronan, who will work together to find answers to questions about their loving but troubled childhood.
Where the game will differ from any other video game experience, is that one of the game’s characters, Tyler, is transgender – a first for a video game from a major publisher and studio according to Dontnod. In order to ensure the character is well represented, Dontnod explains that it worked with GLAAD, an LGBT advocacy group, to help shape Tyler. Famous trans actor August Black has been revealed as the voice actor for Tyler.
Narrative adventure games are Dontnod’s bread and butter and Tell Me Why will be no exception. It’s set to launch in the winter months of 2020 on Xbox One, Windows and Game Pass, with fans knowing in advance when each episode will drop (unlike with Life is Strange).
