According to a Bloomberg report, Electronic Arts has cut between 300 and 400 jobs while also cancelling several incubation projects, one of which was a Titanfall title.
A new report from Jason Schreier of Bloomberg has confirmed that EA has laid off 300-400 staff across its business, with roughly 100 of those affected coming from Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind Apex Legends and the Star Wars Jedi series. As part of Schreier’s report, he received a statement from EA spokesman Justin Higgs, who said, “As part of our continued focus on our long-term strategic priorities, we’ve made select changes within our organization that more effectively aligns teams and allocates resources in service of driving future growth.”
A statement from Respawn was posted to its socials around the same time the report went live, confirming the layoffs in classic corporate speak. “We’ve made the decision to step away from two early-stage incubation projects and made some targeted team adjustments across Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi.” Nothing quite like being adjusted out of a job.

Returning to Schreier’s report, he provides clarity on one of the incubation projects, stating that the now-cancelled title was a Titanfall extraction shooter code-named R7. According to Schrerier’s sources, “It was not close to being released.”
Moving on to IGN’s coverage of the layoffs, it appears that the remainder of the staff servered were from the EA Experiences Team. These staff members were responsible for customer-facing tasks, including fan care, marketing, and customer support.
Everyone here at WellPlayed wishes all affected former EA staff the best as they navigate this difficult situation.
