For A Brief Time, Overwatch 2 Was Infested With Murderous Furnishings

Hold on, did that chair just tell me to start running?

Mere moments after I shared my harrowing experience as a lowly chair in Overwatch 2’s Mischief & Mayhem game mode, the mundane objects stage an uprising.

Turns out it was actually within the power of the hiding items to not only fight back, but actually decimate the seeker forces.

So, members of the hiding team actually have a short range stun for the sake of escaping a prying seeker. Usually the method is to employ this when you have been rumbled, then skitter off to a new location and hope you are in the clear.

Some creative soul realised that a team of 5 can rotate their stuns to great effect – they are an area of effect after all – allowing you to then melee the seeker team to death while they sit there, unable to fight back.

Essentially, the Genji team was getting mobbed to death by a gang of bushes, books, chairs and the occasionally barrel. It was harrowing. During my games I only saw it employed once – and brilliantly a single Genji actually managed to escape and then 1v5 the murderous furniture for a truly epic win for our team.

The mode has had a hotfix applied to remove this particular ‘feature’, if only because the traditional spirit of hide and seek doesn’t really call for a murder squad wiping out the seeking team. But, the entertaining nature of it will live on eternally via the myriad of amazing game captures people are throwing online.

If only I had the chance to fight back as my lowly chair.
