Forspoken Is Getting A Three-Part Deep Dive Video Series With The First Focusing On Magical Parkour

Publisher Square Enix and developer Luminous Productions have released the first video in a three-part deep dive series that delves into the mechanics of the upcoming action-RPG Forspoken.

This first video focuses on protagonist Frey’s magical parkour and movement systems at her disposal. Using her magical abilities, Frey is able to traverse the world of Athia with speed and style. Skills that players will gain include:

• Flow. Allow Frey to run at high speeds
• Shimmy. Enables Frey to gain height by kicking off the ground
• Float. Lets Frey softly fall from great heights without taking damage.
• Glide. Essentially a magical surfboard that has Frey carving up water.
• Zip. Used so that Frey can quickly pull herself out of harm’s way or use it as a swing to cross large gaps.
• Soar. Scale verticle objects with a number of quick jumps.
• Scale. Create magical footholds to launch from, in and out of combat.

Using these movement abilities will drain Frey’s stamina, forcing the player to manage the gauge as they move. Certain skills, such as the Rush ability, will replenish stamina while providing a significant speed boost. Upgrading these skills will also lower stamina consumption, allowing players to use and combine them more regularly.

During his hands-on preview with Forspoken, Nathan praised the movement and magical parkour abilities, likening the momentum and deftness to the Infamous series.

Forspoken releases on PS5 and PC on January 24, 2023.
